Get Ready For Christ

Always remember, we are to be ready for Christ's return by working for him faithfully.  He gave us our abilities and skills that we are to use in our service to Him.  So let's look at another parable Christ gave that is written Matthew 24.

Mat 24:45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
Mat 24:46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
Mat 24:47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
Mat 24:48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
Mat 24:49 And shall begin to smite his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;
Mat 24:50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,
Mat 24:51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

In this parable, the lord represents Christ and the faithful servent represents the faithful believers.  The evil servents represents the unbelievers.  The believers are given their talents by God and are to use them, no matter how small or large they are, to spread His word to the world.

But then there are those that are saying that He is not coming anytime soon.  They think that they can continue to do that they want to do.  So they are going about their lives any way they want without any thought of serving the Lord, but only serving themselves.

But then suddenly their Master shows up catching the evil servent off guard.  Read verse 50 again to see what is going to happen to those that are not ready for His return.

Christ says that those that are doing His work at his coming, they will rule and reign with Him in the kingdom. (see 2Tim 2:12 & Rev 20:6)

One other thng to think about is that this parable, has a two-fold meaning.  First it relates to today as we do not know when He will come to take us in the rapture.  You cannot just try to wait until the last minute to come to Christ because you do not know when He is coming and also you don't know what will happen in the next minute.  Something tragic could happen and you might suddenly die.  Then where would you be?  You would be on the outside, so to speak, finding yourself separated from Christ forever.  Secondly, it also relates to that seven year period known as the great triblutation.  During that time He will be coming for the nation of Israel.  But He will also be coming for those that repented and turned to Him in that terrible time.

So do not live carelessly thinking that the Lord is delaying His coming as He could come at any time.  Remember that we are going to be standing in the presense of Christ.  Do not forget that.

Joh 5:24 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

Joh 6:27 "Do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you, for on Him the Father, God, has set His seal."

Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
